Directed By J.J Abrams and staring, Chris Pine, Benedict Cumberbatch, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin and Zoe Saldana. The sequel to Star Trek, this time it follows the crew as they chase after a terrorist who has just bombed London.

Two of the main things to look at with this film are these. This is the Sequel to the first Star Trek film, so as in all sequels the characters and setting have all been set up in the first film. We know Kirk, Spock, Bones and Uhura now. We understand them and more importantly time has passed so you cannot spend most of the film setting these things up. Due to J.J Abrams brilliance as a directer he handles this very well and we see growth in everyone, a surprisingly rare thing.

The second thing to watch out for is a much bigger achievement that needs to be completed  As most people know, Disney bought star wars and they plan on making many more films. The Director chosen to lead this in at least the first film if not more is J.J Abrams so watching this was a test to see if he could handle another massive  universe and after seeing this last night I feel very safe in trusting him to do the Star Wars universe respect and intrest it deserves.

Now back to Star Trek, I am only going to give a small insight into the plot because I hate spoilers and don’t want to ruin anything for you. I will say this, it is truly amazing and so well put together, I feel it’s so much better then the first which was really good. I loved every moment of the plot, which was nothing like I expected, it was much better.

In terms of the cast, clearly there is a lot of speculation about Cumberbatch as for a long time they refused to let slip who he would be playing, speculation went wild over the internet but they managed to keep it under wraps. All I will say is he was supremely amazing, just magnificent to watch, his voice and his acting was the best I have ever seen him give and i’ve been watching his work for many years. They could not have picked a better new addition to the series then himself. I would love to write pages apon pages about his character and how he handles himself in the plot but I don’t want to give anything away nor take anything away from the experience, I was not expecting him to be just so spectacular.

Pine and Quinto’s relationship has developed and they work really well together, in the first film they are getting to know each otherbut now they just work so well together, the comedic timing, the banter they have. When the three men I just mentioned are on screen together you wish you had more eyes to taken in more, they are that good.

Throughout the film there was not one weak moment, no moment of thinking why did you do that or I so saw that coming. J.J Abrams has done an amazing Job with these two films and getting better each time. Even those who aren’t fans of Star Trek or of sci fi in general still loved this film.

I really am struggling to contain my writing and enthusiasm for this, I could I would write for pages and pages about this film and how much I loved it. However restraint will be placed on my fingers, for now.

***** I can not fault this and really wish to just go and see it all again. I haven’t enjoyed watching a film this much in a long while. The cast is amazing, the plot fantastic and the places they go to are just really well thought through. Highly highly recommend.
